1. Mescan Brewery
Love a cold one? Take a tour of Westport’s very own microbrewery, Mescan, They will lead you through a selection of their range of beers, describing the flavour profiles and some of the history of each style. Light snacks are served, the tours are informal and fun and they encourage questions.
Mescan beers are readily available in Westport town and surrounding areas.
A real life adventure game where players enter a themed room and need to crack codes, solve puzzles, find clues and decipher messages to secure their successful escape or accomplishment of a mission.
3. Carrowholly Stables
Carrowholly Stables is situated 3 miles outside Westport and offer fantasic trail rides and beach rides. They have trail rides suitable for all levels from beginner to horse enthusiasts!
4. Westport Walking Tours
Westport Tours is the number one walking tour in Ireland. You’ll get the experience the culture of Westport and the beautiful heritage that comes with it. They’ll introduce you to all the local gems, such as the best ice-cream, the best pints, the best pubs and the best restaurants.
5. Westport house
Westport House & Gardens is one of the very few privately owned historic houses remaining in Ireland. The House has an abundance of original artefacts, artwork and treasures that will fascinate all culture-vultures with a total of 30 rooms on show. The Westport Estate is also home to The Pirate Adventure Park which offers rides, slides, boats, trains and much more.
Located on the Western seaboard in northwest Mayo, Wild Nephin National Park covers a vast 15,000 hectares of uninhabited and unspoilt wilderness, dominated by the Nephin Beg mountain range. To the west of the mountains is the Owenduff Bog, one of the last intact active blanket bog systems in Western Europe.
At the Visitor Centre in Ballycroy Village you will find a 2km looped trail with viewing point – enjoy spectacular 360 degree views of Nephin Beg Mountain Range and seascapes including Achill Island. Ginger & Wild Café and Stronach Gallery are also at the Visitor Centre.
Clew Bay is a natural ocean bay, overlooked by Croagh Patrick. It contains Ireland’s best example of sunken drumlins. Westport Cruises offer 90 minute cruises along Clew Bay and it’s islands.
8. Great Western Greenway
The Great Western Greenway is a walking and cycling trail, that runs 44km in distance. It begins in wonderful Westport, through Newport and Mulranny and ends in the famous Achill.
9. Irish Soda Bread Way
With a passion for baking and a love of Irish tradition and folklore, Carmel and Mary set up The Irish Soda Bread Way. They will demonstrate how to make traditional Irish soda scones before you make them yourself.
While the scones are baking in the oven she will show you how to make traditional Irish brown soda bread.
10. Westport Town Hall Theatre
Westport Town Hall Theatre is just across from The Wyatt Hotel and hosts excellent plays, comedy shows and music! Check out their events here.
